I love, love this book.

I should mention I am a huge fan of Sarah J. Maas and I have been since she the early days when she posted on FP – a very different Throne of Glass. So I have always loved her work but I am not a huge fan of Fey. Just because it was Sarah J. Maas, i decided to give it ago.

And I am so glad that I did because this book is excellent.

Here is the Goodreads Blurb:

A thrilling, seductive new series from New York Timesbestselling author Sarah J. Maas, blending Beauty and the Beastwith faerie lore.

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it… or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

Perfect for fans of Kristin Cashore and George R. R. Martin, this first book in a sexy and action-packed new series is impossible to put down!

Characters

The characters bounced of the page. You could feel their attraction for each. There was mystery, secrets and did i say attraction. Secondary characters were grand, so much so that you really can’t say they were secondary because they leaped of the page too.

But they weren’t perfect they were each flawed.

Feyre (Love the name) is the kickass heroine, very much like Calaena in Throne of Glass but she not as well put together. She’s had a hard life in a very different way that Calaena’s. As in, she really wants to be loved and accepted by her family who only see her as the problem solver. The one who will make sure they survive at the cost of her own wants.

The boys…. hot, hot boys. You will have to read to see what I mean.

Writing/Worldbuilding

Sarah has always been a very strong writer. She has the ability to put just the right amount of detail in her writing which is a great talent. A true story teller. There is nothing I could fault. Everything was perfect. I wouldn’t suggest her to change a thing. I can’t wait for the next book.

Overall

I couldn’t put it down. Was reading long into the night and this morning. I’m tired, but still buzzing. Everything inch of the book was a page turning. I just had to see what was going to happen next. There was mystery, secrets and attraction. There was so much detail that you could sink into and not even realise that time was passing in the real world.

It’s a new and improved version of the Beauty and the beast tale. There is the curse, the girl having to leave her family to live with a strange guy, a beauty, a beast and the girl tending the guys wounds. But other than that, it differs. There is magic, fae, war, monstrous creatures and a hot and heated romance. And you can’t forget the best friend, Lucien.
